SPECIAL WARNINGS FOR BUTTERFLY SWORDS: This product is a real weapon (even if the edge has not been sharpened) and therefore inherently dangerous at all times. The user voluntarily assumes the risk of all injury and damage resulting from any use (or misuse) of this product, whether used as intended or otherwise. The tip is pointed and can stab or scrape quite easily so be very careful, both when practicing and when cleaning the knife. It is very dangerous to twirl these swords allowing the tip to pass inside your arm near the bicep due to the point (and if sharpened the edge). Do not drop on tip or smash the tip into hard objects, even if the swords are in the nylon sheath, as it will bend or break. Unless specifically noted otherwise, the edge will not be sharp but the spine and edge may have 90 degree corners that can cause a scrape, especially if nicked through use. Arm sensitivity to spine scrapes tends to go away with practice flipping (but no guarantees). We do not round the corners of the spine (as we did on the flipping only integral knives) because that reduces the knife’s trapping capability. Your state or national knife laws may prohibit purchase, importation or transport of these swords (for example, prohibiting sharp blades over a certain length)! Check your state/country knife laws! Your local constabulary may regard an unsharpened edge that looks sharp as sharp so be sure to be familiar with your import, transport and ownership laws. Buyer assumes all risk of confiscation by customs or local authorities. These knives come with a 2-in-1 sheath designed so that practitioners can draw both swords simultaneously (if your hand can safely hold both swords). That means that, as with traditional BJD single sheaths, both handles touch each other and can scrape off or mar finish. We recommend you be careful sheathing the swords and withdrawing them to minimize this problem (and also try to avoid sticking the pointy tip through sheath material). If your intention is to transport the knives in the sheath for longer than a gym walk to the tournament ring, you should seriously consider placing some bubble wrap or other shock absorbent barrier between the two handles. Unlike a traditional 2-in-1 sheath, our sheath has an additional layer of material that separates the two blades to help minimize in-sheath blade on blade scratching.
Advice on Care: These are high-end swords made with weapons grade stainless or “semi-stainless” steel that will rust absent proper care. We recommend cleaning them with rubbing alcohol after each use or touch, waxing with Renaissance Wax (or a similar non-acidic wax) as needed, and periodically stripping, cleaning and re-waxing them. Keep dry and do not store in damp or humid area, or in direct sunlight

The tang is fully welded to the metal handle interior, keeping the swords very strong. This model comes in a satin, glossy, or black finish.

The Chinese characters on the swords say “Wing Chun” on one sword and “Bart Jaam Dao” (8 Slash Swords / Butterfly Swords) on the other.

They are good for 95% of training needs (everything except weapon vs weapon or sparring) and easy to maintain.

Based on the survey of over 160 Sifus in June 2014, this is the first of a series of swords that top Wing Chun Sifus said they wanted. The Domination line swords are true combat-grade weapons. Case/Sheath: EWC is providing a free nylon-lined leather 2-in1 case ($50 Retail value) with these swords. The case is offered for free and is not covered under any warranty and none are available for replacement. Do not store the blades in leather cases as it can corrode the blades over time. To prevent your blades from scratching on the metal button rivets when putting them in and pulling them out of the sheath, you should take some Gorilla or Duct tape and put it on the inside of the sheath to cover the rivet. Also when inserting and withdrawing the swords, you will want to keep them pressed to the inside of the sheath, not the outside.

These swords are modeled after our Flagship Line Stabber 14 inch blades. They make a great training companion to our weapon-grade swords.

Our plastic butterfly swords are perfect for practicing your sword form. They are cut out of a single, solid piece of high density plastic, which makes them highly durable and gives them a more realistic weight than many plastic swords. These are weapon grade true full tang swords. Blade is a 12″ hybrid chopper/stabber and is made in Austrian D2 Tool Steel with a lenticular grind. D-Guard is AISI 304 stainless hot drop forged. This model is not sharpened. It is a hybrid of the Flagship and Tomb Warrior lines of swords with custom file work on the D-Guard.

This sword design (combining the flagship and tomb-warrior lines) was based around Sifu German Ferrer’s request and was a custom project for him.

Best of both worlds: These weapons are full-tang, full-handled swords. They have the angled handle for more power and bio-mechanical alignment of the wrist. They have the ability to chop, stab, slice and trap effectively. They have the spiked D-Guard from the Wing Chun Warrior’s Tomb to help keep weapons from slipping under the guard and add penetration power to punches. The Yuen Kay San Butterfly Swords are a very limited edition collector’s item (only 3 available to the general public) commissioned by Sifu Alton Miller. They are beautiful and very comfortable 12″ stabbers.

Own a piece of Wing Chun history. These are a duplicate to a Yuen Kay San design cherished by Sifu Alton Miller. The knives are an outstanding combat weight – around 700 grams each (1.54 lbs).

The blades are made of custom knife-maker quality Böhler D-2 tool steel, professionally heat treated to weapons-grade. On the blunt part all edges are 1-2mm. On the sharpened pairs the swage on the spine is sharpened – so be careful if you flip them. These are real weapons, inherently dangerous and should be treated as such at all times.

The handle on these knives is roughly centered on the blade, a location optimal for percussion against armored targets. They can be flipped between a forward and reverse grip but it is not as easy as when the handle is aligned on the spine. These knives have two-in-one full tang handles of black laminated dyed stabilized wood but full (i.e., two-sided) blades.
